“Truth (Monument)” is a freestanding plaster work, referencing both classical sculpture and masonic imagery from the US dollar bill. The title comes from work that Fred Wilson made in his intervention at the Maryland Historical Society from 1992. It is installed with a wall painting, “The Storm” is based on a quote from the Venerable Bede, circa 8th century, wherein the life of man is compared to that of a sparrow, buffeted to and fro by cold cruel winds, blown accidentally into a warm mead hall for a time, only to be blown out into the cruel wind again.
