“Nothing New Under the Sun” consists of pen and ink drawings, begun in January of 2022. Small, mostly square works on 9.75" x 9.75" with a prominent white border on all edges, a printmaking trope, the series is based on the work of visionary printmakers like Goya and William Black (with occasional explicit visual references to these artists). The sharp edge of the drawing is created by tape, and then completed with markers and artists ink pens. The drawings refer variously to Philip Guston imagery, emojis, still life tropes, 80's video games (Pacman ghosts appear in one) and anime illustrations.
